LEARNING CONNECTIONS

The Power of Exploration Day

Over my time at three schools I have found that Exploration Day never fails to deliver when it comes to parent engagement.

Today we welcomed 40 parents to our Parent Learning Chat, “Your Children are Ready for the Future”, and over two hours we gave them a real window into the learning happening across our school.

The event was designed to offer layered, diverse experiences:

✅ Our K and Grade 1 students showcased their STEAM work, while Grade 6 and 7 students walked parents through their Design Class projects.

✅ Parents joined guided tours with our leadership team, visiting classes engaged in a broad range of learning experiences.

✅ We shared an exemplar unit of inquiry that brought to life the Characteristics of an Inquiry Classroom, from our work with Trevor MacKenzie, and the inquiry process we use from Kath Murdoch.

✅ Finally, parents had open exploration time to visit the classrooms and spaces that interested them most.

The energy of the event was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a school sets a clear direction. Three years of intentionally investing in making our vision a reality has our students genuinely at the forefront of learning.

That’s worth celebrating. 🙌
